Kindred ("we," "our," "us") is a daily journal and peer support community. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. We built Kindred with healthcare-grade privacy practices because your trust is foundational to everything we do.
Information We Collect
Account information: Email address or phone number for authentication. Display name (which may be anonymous).
Profile information: Health condition tags, life situation tags, journey stage, care role, and household context that you voluntarily select during onboarding.
Journal entries: Content you write including text, prompt responses, and entry-level tags. Entries default to private and are only visible to others if you explicitly change visibility.
Social interactions: Follows, reactions, comments, connection requests, and direct messages you send or receive.
Usage data: Analytics events such as screens viewed, features used, and interaction counts. This data is used to improve the product and is not sold.
Device information: Device token for push notifications (if enabled), device platform, and app version.

Your Controls
- Per-entry visibility controls
- Editable situation tags
- Per-notification opt-outs
- User blocking controls
- Account deletion and data export requests via support
Data Retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active
- Deleted entries are removed from discovery quickly and permanently deleted within 30 days
- Deleted account data is permanently removed within 30 days
- Analytics is retained in aggregated, anonymized form
Children's Privacy
Kindred is not intended for users under 13.
